Kurzfristiger Vorlesungstipp: «Globalisation and the Havana Cigar»
An der freien Universität Berlin gibt heute Professorin Dr. Jean Stubbs von der University of London einen Gastvortrag zum Thema «Globalisation and the Havana Cigar: Circulation of Cultural and Scientific Knowledge». Die Vorlesung findet heute von 16.00-18.00 Uhr am Lateinamerika-Institut der Freien Universität Berlin statt. Zum Forschungsgebiet der Professorin schreibt das Institut:
Professor Jean Stubbs was the Director of the Caribbean Studies Centre on the London Metropolitan University from 2002-2009, where she is Professor Emerita since 2010. Actually she is an Associate Fellow at the Institute for the Study of the Americas at the University of London. She works on subjects like race-relations, labour history and migration. Her current research is on «Sovereignty, Identity and Reconciliation in Havana Cigar History, 1860-2010» and on the New Cuban Diaspora in Canada and Western Europe.
