Dem Anti-Smoking-Wahn (der nun auch auf Alkohol und «ungesunde» Nahrungsmittel überschwappt) zum Trotz, brummt das Geschäft mit Zigarren. Nach dem Posting «Deutschland – Zigarren-Hoch» und dem Beiträg über das Widererstarken des «US-Zigarren-Marktes» rapportieren Forbes und Cigar Aficionado Online nun Rekordverkaufszahlen der Branchengrösse Swedish Match. Ein Auszug:
One of the industry’s largest cigarmakers reported robust financial results today. Swedish Match AB of Stockholm, Sweden, the parent company of General Cigar Co. and El Credito Cigars, reported an 18 percent increase in operating income for the first nine months of the year. The results were powered largely by the company’s cigar division.
«It was a good quarter for cigars, with high levels of activity in the operations, but it does not seem to have been an exceptional quarter, and can be repeated,» said chief financial officer Lars Dahlgren in a news brief on Forbes.com.
