Pinar del Rio, Cuba, May 17 (Prensa Latina) Tobacco growers in the Cuban western province of Pinar del Rio concluded the 2005-2006 harvest with high production achievements by area, and good dividends in exportable tobacco, sources of this sector informed Wednesday.

Tobacco growers in this province (the best in tobacco production in Cuba) will guarantee 400,000 quintals (18.36 million kilograms) which are enough to fulfill commitments of the industry.

Young tobacco grower Ernesto Padilla said tobacco leaves are getting dry satisfactorily, which allows predicting higher volumes than in campaigns made before.

With the arrival of the first volumes of rain, work will be intensified to sew the tobacco leaves and take them to the workshops to choose the best.
